In the United States and many places, The formation of adults and process by which they are initiated into the Church is known as the "Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults," or the "RCIA."

• Unbaptized... persons who have attained the age of reason (7 years and older) follow a process to help them grow in awareness to God's call to conversion as well as ways to respond to that call. They are considered catechumens.

• Baptized in Another Christian Church... those catechized and uncatechized persons from a faith tradition other than Catholic who are seeking full communion with the Roman Catholic Church (Eucharist and Confirmation). They are considered candidates.

• Baptized but uncatechized Catholic Adults... persons who were baptized as infants in the Catholic Church but did not receive any religious upbringing within the Catholic Tradition. These adults will be prepared to celebrate the sacraments of Penance, Confirmation and Eucharist. They are also considered candidates

How does RCIT through RCAT come into play?

Roman Catholic Investigative Theology is a bridge after OCIA / RCIA to help you further on the path of your faith. We can’t “make” you Catholic but can help “guide” you on your journey. Our program, RCAT “Roman Catholic Advanced Theology” dives more in-depth then OCIA / RCIA. You may be Catholic at heart, but do you really understand what it’s all about? It’s okay not too, many don’t and takes longer than a lifetime to fully understand it. The only person who truly knows all is Christ. Yet, God gave us the Holy Spirit to mold and shape humanity into better understanding the True Faith of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
